The HIDI Group provided electrical and communications services for the University of Toronto Scarborough’s $14 million dollar expansion to its Academic Resource Centre (ARC).
Designed by RDH Architects consists of a 100,000 ft2 expansion to the existing university library and includes a 500-seat theatre hall and computer labs. The facility, which includes special lighting throughout, required power and fire alarm systems that tied in to the existing building. ARC remained fully operational throughout construction.
Challenges:
The challenges our team were faced with included having to work with in strict schedule due to the building was occupied and operational at the time of construction this also proved to be a challenge as it affected how we tied in the existing building’s power and fire alarm systems to the expansion.
